Research Interests

My main interests lie in extragalactic astronomy. I like to think about questions like: How do massive galaxies evolve through cosmic time? How do galaxy quench their star formation? How and when do a galaxy's kinematic structure and morpholgy undergo changes?

I also like to think about larger statistical questions involving overall populations of galaxies in the Universe. I have recently finished a study on the environmental dependence of rotational support in massive, quiescent galaxies using the Large Early Galaxy Astrophysics Census (LEGA-C Survey). Now, I am working on testing BAGPIPES to recreate hyper-parameter spaces in preparation for the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science (CEERS) program.

To see some of the interactive figures and spectra I have created for the LEGA-C collabortation, see the section below.

Interactive Data

Below is a link to some examples of the interactive figures and data I have been working on for the LEGA-C collaboration. Interactive parameter spaces have proven to be both useful and fun!

About Me

Just your average dragon-slaying, guitar-playing, botany-lower of an astrophysicist. I spend the majority of my free time in the gym, on a soccer field, or taking care of my plants. I also love playing my guitar, World of Warcraft and the occasional DnD campaign with friends.

Another passion of mine is doing Astronomy-/science-related outreach. I have volunteered as a Physics and Astronomy Department tutor for both University of Pittsburgh students and Greater Pittsburgh Area high school students. Outside of tutoring, I love participating in Astronomy on Tap and I have particpated in multiple Open House/Conference Tour nights at the Allegheny Observatory. I am always willing to sit and talk to people about Astronomy and its related fields so conferences and outreach events are some of my favorite things to do.
